I just live in an area with a large amount of Spanish speakers and I enjoy the culture/food too. I’m also close to people who speak Spanish and sometimes I get taken out of a conversation because of language barriers
I never really saw an utility for it until I went to a Spanish speaking country. Didn’t have any super Hispanic friends growing up so I was like why learn Spanish. Definitely sucks when you get language barrier-ed out of a convo. Especially when they purposely switch to Spanish bc they know you don’t understand lmao
