my personal fav is ableton. very expensive but easy to crack.

If you got a Mac, start with GarageBand and work your way up to Logic Pro X.
Garageband is a great starter DAW with simplified features for those who wanna get into it but are intimidated by all the various features.

Garageband is free too which makes it even better. Logic Pro X is $299 but it's 100% worth it imo.
