Because in my experience with Latin America Spanish,
Chica/Chico would usually be reserved for little girl/boy, not to describe anything as small. Which again, does make sense

And if we were to add an extra Umph to chiquito, we Dominicans at least go ChiquitiCO, while you guys go Chiquitito

Another one that might bust your head, (and this is only exclusive to us carribean Spanish speakers I believe) is using the term AHORITA, to mean “later”
