It doesn't make it right, but it might serve to give some kind of understanding as to why Lori Maddox could talk about being a teenager and wanting something that, because of the age difference, was legally defined as coercion.

If it is true, I can't admire what he did, but I believe, as obviously many do, that he grew up beyond the person he was in the 70s. (I have a hard time calling him a pedophile, especially when you hear stories like the one of how he was the one who adamantly requested a kissing scene be removed from Labyrinth because of the age gap between himself and Jennifer Connelly.) He was flawed, as are we all, but he was also brilliant and generous, as we would all hope to be”
