As much as I love it, I'll have to play that against one of your weaker cuts to win.
you're the one who said you had this idea in the first place
Honestly,wat was the idea
You know me too well

Charmbracelet was promoted terribly by Island and it was shortly after Mariah's mental breakdown. Every single flopped and she was dropped immediately after. So much for a "comeback" album. Thank god for EOM and Def Jam.

She was being overworked and Glitter bombed. Look at her behavior in the Loveboy music video and her awkward TRL appearance. It went viral on twitter a few years ago and it's part of the reason #Justice4Glitter became a thing.

Loverboy was subject to controversy, following reports that Jennifer Lopez and Tommy Mottola (Carey's ex-husband) stole the idea of sampling the singer's original planned sample, Yellow Magic Orchestra's "Firecracker", over a month after Carey had signed for it. Since Carey's Glitter was to be released over a month after Lopez's album, she changed the song's melody to sample from "Candy" instead. Further controversy ensued following its release, as Carey was hospitalized for severe mental and physical exhaustion, following poorly received television appearances involving both the song and album.

What would've been the superior hit version.

I think it's because we've heard the Glitter version for so many years. This version didn't click with me until around the 5th listen and it grew on me to the point where I prefer it over the original. At least now the weird vocals fit the beat.
this s*** so god damn fire
1996 heat. Mimi was in a different zone.
i bet mariah & amy would have made the best heartbreak song ever
Funny you said this because I think Amy and Lauryn would've made the best heartbreak anthem. Frank had a lot of Lauryn-isms sprinkled throughout.
