wey 🍎Nov 5, 2023·1 replyNortif i remember correctly the riddler’s main goal was to expose the corruption and punish those participating politicians. the third act instead turned him into some loser weirdo that just wanted to flood the city. also in batmans case, it felt like the whole second act was driving home the point that vigilante justice isnt a solution only for him to ignore all those lessons and go right back to what he was doing.
The point for Batman was to show that both Bruce Wayne and Batman need to work towards bettering Gotham. A lot of the movie is about critiquing his inaction as Bruce the billionaire. You are correct in that the movie was trying to show being Batman isn’t enough, but Gotham still needs Batman too.
The flood was the riddler trying to destroy and restart Gotham’s infrastructure. He wanted to restart everything and that wall was paid for with the renewal fund.
