Towards the end that’s definitely what it is. They made a million dollar mistake of reconvening 2 months after the turbulent sessions for The White Album when they needed a year or 2 apart from each other and to go off and do something solo for a bit. John and especially George were tired of being “Beatles”. I think Paul was partially motivated by his fear of not having the band to go to anymore. That terrified him, which is why the entirety of the 70s was either music with his wife or Wings. He wasn’t ready to be solo yet.
