If MJ hadn’t bought the Beatles catalog and freaked out the powers that be, guarantee you his career trajectory would’ve been way different.

You can’t have too much power, as Ye says.

Man... he had a weird obsession with children. Not necessarily sexual, but it was strange. Even after the first allegations, he kept them around all the time

If it was anyone but Michael Jackson the reaction would be completely different

Drake texted a teenage celebrity and people on here were screaming that he was secretly a pedophile for 2 years

Don’t really care to defend Elvis but a crazy fact is that in the 1950s 20% of American women got married before 18. 20%.

There’s a solid explanation. He was robbed of his childhood by being the frontman of the Jackson 5 and developed such deep trauma from it that he struggled with it his entire life. Having to grow up too quickly. I believe he saw kids as equals, unlike most adults who look down on children and treat them as seen not heard. Some people cannot fathom that as perverse beings and assume that someone spending time with children MUST be in a sexual context. I think it was unwise of him to be so open and vulnerable after the first allegations, but from his perspective he truly could not see what other people saw.

A lot of things used to be common though and I don't think it really changes that they were bad

Lots of people had slaves and you wouldn't say "well everyone in the South was doing it" to defend them

You never see anyone defending MJ for that stuff unless they are like ..

    A BIG MJ fan

And I think that says enough to make me not take what they say seriously

Because in reality their defense is "he made thriller"

    Peter Pan syndrome

He idolized Peter Pan and wanted to be Peter Pan so bad he tried to get Steven Spielberg multiple times to make a Peter Pan movie before he made hook with Robin.

I just gave a good explanation that wasn’t “he made Thriller”

YOU not being a MJ fan doesn’t make you take it seriously.

It certainly doesn’t change that it was bad but you gotta put the blame on society for them rather than individuals.

    20% is still the minority

Most of society wasn't out here marrying little kids

Feel like I can put the blame on the individual people in this case
