the problem i have with your statement is that MJ is a ridiculously high standard that no rapper could ever reach. now i know 808s isnt a rap album but it also didnt receive universal acclaim ie it wasnt a crossover smash hit album

She’s definitely written more than that even if its that at it’s core, which I think is an underrated strength in songwriting

I really cant put it into words but there’s something about her fanbase that rubs me so wrong.
