r&b mixed with elements of hip hop, funk & other genres

but it can also be hip hop as well, it’s not exclusive an r&b thing if that makes sense

i’m sure some1 more eloquent than me can explain it better

I've only heard maxwell cover of the Kate Bush song and a couple lauryn hill songs

also slum village, common, mos def, the roots etc make/made neo soul oriented music
