i don't know if i could pick just 1 because of all the different genres of music and comparing a jazz bassist to a funk bassist is silly.
But some of my favs regardless of genre would be Jaco Pastorious, John Deacon, Sonny, Paul McCartney, Cliff Burton, Charles Mingus, Prince, Carol Kaye.
