Damn another illegal itt
damn racism mm
I dont like learning to appreciate different music
it's less about learning and more about sitting with it and then all of a sudden WHAM! it hits you and you understand it
I never got John Coltrane, I'd like a few intros here and there but when he went all crazy and noodly I'd just skip
UNTIL!!! years later and very recently, a friend sends me a live performance and I just put it on in the background while I was working.. Coltrane's doing his wild noodly mess and at some point towards the end, I got it! I was there and it was indescribable
A couple days after I was listening to that track again, smoking a joint, I realised that I'll for the rest of my life remember him sending me that track, it was like a key to appreciating something I thought was just not for me at all.

btw I was not high the first time I heard this track and was blown away
i showed her blue in green..
Kind Of Blue was the first instrumental jazz album I got into but I'm not surprised Bruises not liking it immediately
I remember the music being so alien to me when I first heard it that I had to just sit with it for a bit, which wasn't difficult because there was something drawing me towards it, initially it was Coltrane on Blue in Green but I eventually appreciated Miles on that track

This has happened to me with music
But it didn't seem like that's what you were saying

Same! I think online jazz nerds were smart to choose Kind of Blue as the quintessential “starter” jazz album.

I was just kidding with that jazz school haram smiley line but I do think that these moments of realization reveal themselves quicker in genres you're already well versed in
I like good catchy melodies and good lyrics and well written songs
Jazz doesn't focus on that at all
Anyone got that video of the dude like you put no f***ing fear in my heart

I really haven't been especially drawn towards any jazz and only am drawn in by how nice the covers look

I need to stop mixing my actual opinions with funny opinions and expecting people to be able to tell when I'm joking
