I will say from what I've seen the biggest thing that makes people lose interest in learning guitar is them skipping beginner things and trying to jump right into playing their favorite complex cool things

They give up because it just makes the whole thing seem too hard and not worth it and even if they get the notes right they can't get it to sound right because they have no understanding of any technique
