If you listen to a lot of his early 2000s beats and compare them to Timbalands at the time, Pharrell is usually very stock / basic
Still great though
!https://youtu.be/H6FCeSMs3YQI can understand what you’re saying, and I’m sure you can pull out more than a few examples. But generally speaking, I think the Neptunes had great drums. It’s something they’re known for, after all.
Plus, the stock sounds out the Korg Triton were awesome.
There hasn’t been enough 20/20 Pt 1 in the JT matches so far

You wildin on the last one, give KTT a little more credit than that
@Bruises aye you gon have to slow down shawty
I have 2 much stuff I'm carrying
if I were to make the argument for timbo > neptunes/pharrell it would be his emphasis on interesting textures. That’s something the neptunes largely ignored.
But thats a nerd ass conversation.

a lot of the neptunes beats do kinda sound.. hmm, skeletal is the word i wanna use and timbo's production sounds.. full and grand most of the time, obviously there are exceptions
but that's what makes them special

But at the same time, it’s that stripped back and simple sound that made The Neptunes so special.

They're known for using Korg / stock sounds a lot don't get me wrong, they're beats are very cool and different but Timbaland's sound selection really makes a world of difference
neptunes don't have a single beat better than one in a million, aaliyah standom aside.. that s*** is literal perfection

Yeah, he has em beat in that regard.
i’m beginning to convince myself that Timbo is better than The Neptunes but I won’t allow that cus then Vibe would be correct about something.
Listening to Strawberry Bubblegum now. I love the snare in the first part.
The granular effect on that is amazing
I will say the neptunes are better raw musicians than timbaland but timbaland is a better producer

I think both can be true. Like you can prefer The Neptunes but Timbaland just on a pure production level is better (imo)

Yup
Yup
Like theres a reason timbaland always co producers or samples
But at the end of the day idc about that bc the final product is all that matters
do you like ginuwine?
the bachelor and 100% ginuwine are solid as f***
