u should always practice with a metronome. i guess a premade drum pattern works too if it's quantized that can work as a met if there's a consistent beat pattern where you can hear each beat

if u get assigned a particular song to learn from your teacher, they prob told u this already but be sure to break it up into small chunks and dont try and tackle everything at once break it up by phrasings (groups of like 4 or so measures) and try and get those good before linking it to a new section

yea its really great because by plucking each string individually u can hear which strings aren't being barred correctly which is hard to hear by just playing chords. it allows me to figure out where and how much i should adjust my bar finger to make sure each string is being strummed correctly
