I thought Arizona
Bought our first home earlier this year in February. 4 beds 3 baths 2400 sq ft in the bay by San Mateo.
Moved from NYC specifically to have the single family home with the yard and the good school district and all that. Mostly my wife pushing for it. I would’ve been find staying in my home city forever with a condo instead of a house. Whatever tho neither here nor there! Getting used to it slowly.
We initially moved in August of 2024 and rented and then we started ramping up our housing search in the winter since we heard it’s a decent time to get a good deal since not many people want to buy homes in the middle of the school year and move their fam. Less competition.
We had already built our savings, already had on negotiables and non negotiables. Was just a matter of seeing the homes, seeing which one we liked, what made sense for us. No point in waiting around for the perfect rate or the perfect price, if the rates go lower just refinance. If they go up then good for you, your rate is lower. Just buy when you can afford it and take it from there.
first time homebuyers can do 3% down
Rates too high to make a mortgage affordable at only 5 down
bought a house 3 months ago and it's a bit of a fixer upper. paid in cash tho so thankfully no mortgage which is a huge relief
love the feeling of security from never having to rent again after so many bad experiences
but having a house is so much work. my grandma told me it takes 5 years for your house to feel like a home so I always keep that in mind
How long after purchase did you move? Why? Still worth it?
Wife had it for some time I came in and paid off the last 30k in a chunk coz mortgage was pissing me off. That was a few years ago. Moved to leave America lmao. Only been here like 5wks but ya its fckn ace i am not moving back. Borderline worst case scenario is moving back lmfao
wish i did this or london instead of ny
I mean u could still, no?
