i think i posted this when i first bought the ticket for lollapalooza but i didn't have a place to stay, car rental or a flight

my life had/has been changing significantly since newjeans announced they would be going to this show. as i mentioned earlier, i was debating going because it's a lot to travel across the country to see a 45 minute set. plus, it could be they could do a tour. i didn't want another situation where i buy tickets and flights and hotel to go see a group across the nation only for them to announce they're performing 3 hours away driving a week later.

anyway, in the end, i decided to just try to go for it, but there was a big part of me that was waiting for things to go wrong so where this wouldn't happen. more than any other show i've ever gone to, i was just expecting something. either i wouldn't have any money (literally almost happened, but scraped by), or a flight would cancel or delay (there was a delay, but still made it), or visa issues stopping them from coming over, or just weather (it rained all other days except when newjeans played ).

it was a strange headspace, and it kinda prevented me from getting excited. Not until i was finally on festival grounds was i freaking HYPED!

anyway, i had to battle billie fans. not like any stans of any music or group are pleasant but....i didn't like them at all. i'm sure you'll always read about 'cOnCeRt eTiqUEttE" being gone now post pandemic, and it is a thing i kinda agree with, but if i didn't believe it before, i did now. I do feel fans just kinda don't give an absolute mcshit about anything except for whatever they want. If this means posting up super hella early, and just literally sitting down through the sets of all the people performing, and then demanding water from the staff cause it's like 87 degrees F, then so be it. i've always known for festivals to be a miserable experience, but stans managed to make 'em even worse.

ANYWAY, trash ass billie stans aside, the newjeans set was absolutely AWESOME. on one hand, yes, it sucks that newjeans has so few and short songs. BUT, they are all awesome, so i enjoyed every second they were up there. it's a refreshing experience because often it'll be:
-group comes out

• plays song i like
  -says greetings, a bunch of boring talking
• plays song i dont care about
• plays song i kinda like
• more talking thats boring
• plays hit song i do love
• repeat

usually i kinda zone out with the songs i dont care about, or during all the talking, but this time i was completely engaged for every moment. at the end, it felt like it zoomed by, but it was a SUPER fulfilling experience.

if they tour, i can't say if ill be in a position to see them again, but for anyone that has the opportunity, i would recommend it 1000%.

jihyo single was whatever, vastly prefer nayeons. wonder if the direction is up to the girls themselves or management. would've preferred to hear Jihyo with a sound like HO! which is one of the songs she wrote for Twice back in the day

There's an apparent generational divide amongst her fans with what they like the most. Like ppl really f*** w 8 and celebrity and more recent stuff like that. Which is fine but I realized from her last concert that if I were to see it, I know a small part of me would wish there was more earlier stuff. It's just how it goes so it's whatever, but this particular concert would be the one to catch. It's so far away, and if I could barely afford 100 bucks to see new jeans, there's no way I could see iu in Korea. I don't even have my passport current.

Anyway, Im sure itll be amazing. I'll stay over here wishing one day I can see her live
