Is that Lisa in your avy?

So I’m brand new ITT. Very recently found JENNIE on Instagram and she’s the physical embodiment of the word Goddess so obviously I followed her and through that I found out about BLACKPINK. A month later I’m obsessed these b****es are Beyonce split into 3 Korean girls and a Thai.
Welcome me to the KPop fam, fam
Hope you're serious about this. Jennie's my avy, too. She's great.
Blackpink's a good group to start out with, especially if you're used to western music.
"Bad Boy" by Red Velvet is a classic:

ever since i started listening to loona, i deadass stopped listening to all the other kpop groups lol
K-pop artists generally have great style. Anyone else both into fashion and K-pop?

Yeah, man. Generally speaking, K-pop idols have cooler personalities than western artists do. They shine on the stage as kings and queens, but they're humble, chill, and down-to-earth off the stage. Their appearances on TV shows and livestreams depict them as normal human beings who have genuine personalities, hobbies, and interests.
K-pop is unfairly stigmatized. People are just fearful and hateful of what they're not used to. Yeah, it's a highly manufactured genre, but so is American pop. It's commendable that K-pop artists and groups don't have an unhealthy obsession with being at the top of the charts like western artists tend to.
Music is music. Appreciate it and approach it with an open mind. There's no need to hate on a genre just because its songs are one spot higher than your favorite American artist's music.

Absolutely I used to make fun of my sister and cousin for loving BTS but I get it now this culture is so much fun and the more I listen to the music I actually get into it. Plus it doesn’t hurt that all BP members are stunning. Highkey need to see them live at some point their shows remind me of Michael Jackson concerts foreal. Immaculate precision and care for the performance. I know other acts are the same cuz in Korea they actually seem to care about talent lmao.

I used to cringe at K-pop, especially around 2009, 2010, and 2011. "Gangnam Style" didn't help either. I didn't want to be associated with any of that. Folks around me would be so hyped about the groups and the artists, but I didn't see the appeal in any of it.
But BigBang's 2012 comeback changed my perspective about everything. Yeah, I wasn't that much of a fan even in 2012, but I thought their song "Blue" was cool. Didn't consider myself a fan of K-pop until the year after.
K-pop is chill because there's not a lot of this negativity going on. Here in the West, artists are always trying to beef with each other, the media read way too much into celebrities' tweets, celebrities tweet all sort of hateful nonsense, etc. I respect western music, but Jesus, there's way too much ego going on for me. K-pop idols can't afford to do that because their careers are tarnished if they do.
The fandoms can be toxic, but that's not exclusive to just K-pop. Even on KTT, you see people hate on other people's music tastes and favorite rappers. They love to trash artists and groups who beat their favorites at the charts. That's clearly toxic and petty "Stan" behavior.
You don't have to actively participate in any of the K-pop fandom stuff. It's even easier to get away from it if you're in the West because our media doesn't talk about K-pop idols.

This is true the only way I know about BP scandals is thru Blinks’ youtube pages lmao
I saw SuperM on Tuesday. It would be an understatement to say I enjoyed myself. I recommend going to their concert.
