BGFXAfter you watch it multiple times, you start to realize how elevated this movie really is based off Joaquin Phoenix's performance. If it was anybody else in that role, movie would be much worse.

last person to play jokers role had to take meds because his mental state was declining and he ended up overdosing. you could tell joaquin really shared jokers pain, playing that sort of jester role where you kind of bend yourself to be an idiot but theres a darker depth to it than that.

Many other actors have basically done the same thing much better in good movies, like Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler, DeNiro in Taxi Driver, s***, Joaquin Phoenix in The Master. Joker’s script is bad, it’s not really Phoenix’s fault but he isn’t rising above its quality

Yeah thats a made up story
i mean the dude broke up with his girl, spent months method acting joker, couldnt sleep for straight for months, and struggled with addiction pretty much the entire decade. i dont think playing joker was the whole reason but it definitely played a part in his mental problems
