WRUthanks a lot for context, didnt know this existed and always figured theres not much to go back to aside from officially and well-known dilla releases (soulquarians, madlib, solo) and random compilations
I saw your thoughts on kano's partnership with dilla estate, do you think it's a good idea to buy that stuff to at least support the partnership and the estate?
There is a whole world of unreleased Dilla beats that are well worth checking out, I prefer his beat tapes over the compilations and projects (expect a couple albums and some official productions for other artists)
I personally wouldn't support Kano because their handling of that release was so lazy and almost disrespectful with how they b******ized those beats. If you wanna support the estate, the best way would be to buy official J Dilla merchandise or records from Vintage Vibez Music Group.

wish there was some sort of restoration project for visuals around dilla (photos, photo shoots outtakes, videos). something past an ig account, it's been a problem with a ton of older artists really
It's something we'll surely be working, at some point, over at the DillaWorld discord server. We're atm just getting the music organized, the sample info and interviews. There will be a website soon that will have all this archived

Is there any good info out there about how the workload was split for Ummah stuff? I feel like it’s assumed that Dilla was doing majority of the work because it sounds mostly like him but I’ve never seen a source on that

unfortunately it's blurry, there's some stuff on the ummah wiki that touches on it. I'll have to compile all that's said at some point
