the lone congresswoman who voted against the afghanistan war in 2001
Pretty easy to vote no when you got no1 who's gonna oppose you tbh.
The discourse around all this is confusing me because wasn't the taliban in charge of majority of afghanistan before 2001 when Bush just went stupid and got us into this mess? Correct me if I'm wrong here.
I think we've wasted way too much resources on Afghanistan in my opinion. Humanitarian efforts should be the focus, but the continuing occupation on the land should've been ended. And the humanitarian efforts should not be the US but the UN as a whole.
The only thing Biden did wrong was how sloppy this process has been. Before annoying we were pulling out, all of the American citizens and those that were in Afghanistan that assisted us should have been out of Afghanistan when we pulled out along with all our weapons and technologies that have now fallen in the hands of the Taliban. Not sure how Biden managed to botch this up so bad.
Biden just further proving his incompetence on seemingly what should be tasks he should be able to handle.
this sht got me in tears i cant lie
hillarious photo
I'm blaming Biden because the backing out process has been a total mess. He announced our forces were leaving with no planning. Sensitive data, US weapons & helicopters should not be in the hands of the Taliban. Those Americans in the embassy should have been evacuated and those translators or others that assisted the US when we arrived in Afghanistan should have been moved to safety way before now. This seems terribly planned and shoehorned, like Biden was just completely caught off guard with the current situation.
The United States drafted an agreement with the Taliban in Feb 2020 to totally pull out in 14 months
This began going into effect this spring under Biden.
Beginning in July the Taliban began gaining territory at an extremely fast pace. At the beginning of July, intelligence suggested that resistance would last a year. 3 days ago intelligence estimates Kabul to last 3 months. In reality the Taliban just took control of every province, totally overwhelming Afghan resistance which basically gave up, and almost overrunning American personnel
so the Afghanistan government deadass about to be terrorists and s***?
this s*** scary af fam
Go on, argue with the facts
I support the pull out but I don't support denial of progress

Zalmy Khalilzad (An ambassador to America)
Sher Mohammad Abbas (Head of Taliban)
Ashraf Ghani (Afghan president)

My grandpa attended Harvard in the 1950’s and was trained in d*** smuggling because he worked in the border guard. My fathers uncle who’s head of the interim government was educated in Germany by Americans
Tons of afghans received scholarships to America in the 1950’s and 1960’s and the US and USSR faced off in influencing the country. It’s not some government ploy, just the fact that they acquired the know how to maneuver through the politics of the country.
