they went to afghanistan to be talking heads in front of cameras and spread propaganda about the need to the US to stay longer in afghanistan. they basically went all the way there for propaganda photoshoots. Plus it's hypocritical, they're saying the US lacks resources in afghanistan and yet by going there (and thus needing to leave + requiring protection as lawmakers) they are actively diverting resources during the final days of evacuations
