It was not unwinnable. That’s the biggest joke. The taliban opposition was purposely destabilized by America. The taliban themselves were never really hunted down in the first place. That coupled with a corrupt puppet regime made for a defenseless country - exactly what they wanted. In those 20 years, even until recently, a lot could have been done to stabilize defense, fulfill promises made to Hezb-b-Islami, legitimize the government and either go after or talk to Taliban. None of these were ever the end goal.

They got their use out of the country, pulled out and left a mess. They dipped without a peace treaty, without any formal agreements, just plain dipped. Instability is what they wanted. You ssee, Russia and China don’t like the thought of unrest in those areas. It also makes USA look like the saviors and it distracts from the disturbing & unspeakable crimes commited on their behalf.

The taliban taking over for sure has ended Western corruption which is at least one good thing. Schools have also resumed and they calmed down the population when they took over Kabul, to resume w their lives as usual. I’m not sure how to feel I just hope the suffering and ends.

Nah I’m good with this opinion. Make no mistake the taliban is a terror. But you gotta look at where they’re picking up at. Afghanistan was in terrible shape in the first place. And they seem to get more legit, talking to China and s*** like that.

I have close afghan friends who had family on the ground until recently. It’s the impression I’ve gotten from them. It’s bad, yeah, but mixed too.
