coltrupIMO the "fear of the far left" is really just the fear of uncertainty- it's easier to believe that all we have to do is deregulate, wall up, and own the libs and the world will go back to normal.
its much harder to accept that we need to dismantle an unfathomably powerful, complex system with the odds and timeframe stacked against us.
i think this creates a kind of trauma for the average young person that is either processed (far left), repressed (trump voter who hates the left because of what their existence represents), or struggled with (doomers).
im simplifying a lot but thats how i see it
I understand that some people disagree with it for the reasons you outlined. I'm sure there are many trump supporters who vote completely opposite their beliefs because they don't know better. I do think that some people genuinely prefer our current system, and understand that while it might not be perfect, there are solutions that don't involve dismantling the system and starting over with something else entirely new. Many people genuinely feel that way. I mean 63 million people saw the last 4 years of trump and voted for him today
