Ok so for example

Buy eth at 500, sell at 2900

Thats a 2400 gain and if u held for a year thats 15% capital gains tax and some state

Keeping about 2000 net after tax per eth

Then you could have rebought back for say 1200

So now you still have the eth and have a profit of 2000

Say eth goes to 10k next cycle

If you had kept the original and held through and then sold, you would have about 8k net after tax

But if you had done what I did, you would have 10k-1200=8800x.85 or so, make it about 7450+ 2000 from before

So 9450

Made more and took off risk earlier..

Gets worse if your bracket is higher or if not holding for 1 year plus

But you also assume crypto has to always be around and to go up

The purpose of eventually selling is to use the money for something in life or to acquire more of that asset
