school me on chia. ive never heard of it till this thread friend.
instead of using GPUs or ASICs to run Proof of Work it uses Hard Drive Space called Proof of Space & Time
so it uses 1/300th the energy and unlike Proof of Stake it doesn't reward the people with the biggest bags
it has a Smart Contract platform & Token standards like Ethereum
the devs seem to be competent and have been keeping up with their release schedule which is shocking in this space lol
they're working on a Chia DEX right now
it's in the very early stages Mainnet is only a month old
Yes keep buying the dips, until they keep dipping and then you’ve gone from very positive to negative like last time
Most of you guys held bags for years while a few people like myself got out near the top and had some money to use during the bear market
I still have a majority of my positions and sold a little bit of stuff last fri
You don’t have to like my advice, but it served true last time. Buying when this market is heated and has already caught media attention for months isn’t worth the risk, unless maybe you want to flip, then that is different as I will do that a bit as well
Even if say btc goes up to 80-110k, not worth buying at higher prices to hold long term for me b/c you know one day btc will be cheaper than here
Buying at 20-30k was a diff story
Edit: And I hope I am wrong considering all my non retirement investments are in crypto rn (but not BTC, since I am banking on alts going crazy on the rally back)
so sell half right now and hold that fiat to dca in bear market?
I mean I'm not spending that money anyway and just holding it for retirement, so why take it out of the blue chip coins if you don't want to deal with taxes
bringing on a 5th Chia plotting node this Saturday
I should be cranking out at least 48 plots a day
have a room filled with buzzing computers
Good god
Im just plotting on my gaming PC 5 a day
Comp hitting new ATH

All depends on your situation, time frame, and if you are looking to make a major purchase or another investment
When I was speaking about possibly topping out, that is just for btc by the way
I am expecting a recovery to at least 55-60ishk, and that is where alts should go insane. So I am not bearish on total market, just possibly BTC (and there is a chance this is just a correction and we go up again, but I always like taking some profits off the table when rising hard).
I actually think we should see HIGHER alt prices, coming from someone most think is super bearish
I sold some eth at 2500 and about 1/2 my vechain last week as its done really well, just to mostly cover me in case things drop
Just have a plan if prices drop and make sure you can stick through it
I like to sell off in pieces and there is a portion of my portfolio (mostly eth and a couple alts) where I won't sell for a long time
I still have 140 TiB to fill
You got actual PCs runnin or like raspberry pi's? I dont wanna build a PC that will be useless after ive plotted my space

If this helps I’m running the chia program on my pi4 using 40tb of hard drives plugged into a usb hub lol
Time to win = 15 hours

Only $75 for the 8gb version
Can you plot in parallel?

I’m doing 4 at a time right now and it seems to be working
I got the 4gb version so maybe the 8 can do more. Not sure. I just did a quick google and that’s what people said the max was for the pi to handle or the CPU will throttle

On a raspberry pi you can plot 4 at a time in parellel that cant be right bro

I’m also running a Plex server on it with 30TB of drives and I can still direct play on it at the same time

bro I just chose 4 and it been working. I havnt checked my cpu usage at all… could be super throttled rn for all I know
Gonna remote ssh into it rn and see
99.9% CPU usage and 98 degrees Celsius temps
S***s bout to start a fire
imma halt the chia process and see if I should just do 2 when I get home

Are they finishin though?

As said above it says 15 hours to win
was at 4 days 4 days ago
Bout to hop to 2 days when I cut the parallel plots down

This is insanity everyone got $1k+ plotting builds and you're tellin me the $55 raspberry pi works just as good

Wouldn’t say just as good. But hell it works
But those 1k plotting builds with NVME ssd’s gonna be feasting
