i mean your friends are probably just really stupid and have no actual investment experience

and definitely have never even experienced a bear market

if you are reading reddit for advice stop doing that too as it is a contraindicator and will only make you lag the markets

nothing they say should ever influence your investment thesis and if you begin to waver in what you hold then you haven't done enough research into your holdings

that's not to say you shouldn't listen if facts change, of course you shouldn't bury your head in the sand

but i never invested in equities unless i put in 100+ hours of research into a specific stock and that included building a model from scratch from the 10-k

if you aren't going to put in the effort of actual research, and hope you can simply "time the market" then you are literally just gambling against the smartest, richest people in the world who have unlimited resources and are trying to make 5% yearly

it is arrogance and hubris to think you'll beat the markets using robinhood

also regarding tesla, i have been probably the biggest bull on this forum for years.. but that can easily go to 100 forget 200 split-adjusted lol. not likely, but definitely possible

relatedly, is there a good place to learn the market? everywhere I go, people are saying "don't believe reddit! don't follow anyone's advice!" but there has to be some central place to learn this stuff. i know damn well this ain't a "learn by doing" type beat
