What's ETH 2.0 and why is coinbase asking me to stake it?

ETH 2 is an upgrade that comes out fully in 2022 but it started roll out last year

with ETH 2 you can stake your ETH and earn more ETH

right now if you do it your funds will be locked away till later this year according to Coinbase so don't do it unless you plan to not sell anytime soon
