I’ve listened to this a few times through, and i am still kinda blown away. Trying to catch and decipher every bar takes some effort, just excellent writing. And Alc, what else needs to be said at this point? Man is a legend.
Interesting thread

Quelle is consistently such a unique rapper. Him and Mach for me are the two 'funnest' to listen to in terms of the approaches they take.

I mentioned it earlier how I absolutely love his deadpan delivery almost every time he raps. and yeah his creativity with the rapping itself is something, this combo of deadpan and somber is great
Backwoodz absolutely nailing that album description once again btw.
Warmly inviting on the surface, black and bone-crushingly cold at depth. A collection of the profane and the pure; a reminder that that which is forbidden is also sacrosanct.
This is when you buy a beautiful house only to discover, hidden behind a heavy bookcase, a stairway twisting up and away into the darkness.

With you 100%. I know some don't always dig his delivery but I've always found it very fitting for his material.
He's top 5 for me. Always pushing the genre and has the quality/quantity of releases to match woods and KA and Roc, etc.
Blow dat horn faaast we beeeen rared to go
Sounds like a Mach-ish refrain
Nah it takes time. And ELUCID's tweet clarifying that lyric was only when it started to click for me.
So the verse is ELUCID with a vignette about s***work in an impoverished environment, told from the perspective of this client. When you listen to it with that in mind it all pieces together.
'I got bail money trick, is it snow, is it hail?' is a clever line. He's got bail money to pay for a trick (prostitute), and the snow/hail referring to coke and crack, as well as just the weather.
'I'd probably given you a beat, but I think you steal' is another clever line. Double meaning again but the main one being that he would have gone for this prostitute but he doesn't trust her.
And at the end he's saying how entrenched this is, they're working out the same building this guy is living in.
I just totally forgot that not all rap is from the perspective of the rapper himself, it does make sense considering that perspective. Your a***ysis are always on point you can write a book about this not even kidding. thanks this thing was really stuck in my head and hampered the enjoyment of the album for me now i have newfound appreciation for the verse.

Post this s*** on genius fam, site craves for annotations like this
@DwindlingSun is this the tweet you were mentioning ?
Don't. Some artists take time to comprehend. For me, I still think Elucid, Akai Solo, and Yasiin Bey (not Mos Def) are the most cryptic emcees out
Akai is really out there for me I dont get much at all. I dont think yasiin bey is that coded tbh
Light bugs spark blackness
Back at the annex
Past bedtime, kissing, praying nobody catch us

Batteries added, vicious cycle
Hurt people hurt people
Ayo! The first show w Camo Monk is out... nice soundtrack to your Sunday if you ask me haha. Hope you'll enjoy. Much appreciation to all the music lovers, peace!
I still can't get over the way this album kicks off. Perfectly executed.
'Ladies and gentleman I'm sorry to disturb your dancing and enjoyment, but the reason for calling you this evening is.' And then just that gradual, ominous build-up. Knew just from those 30 seconds that we were in for a classic.
