Been tuned in! But I haven't heard some of his lower profile releases
Furtive Movements is a must in that regard too, even if just for the closing two tracks on it. Some of their best work.

I went through pretty much all his discog a few weeks back. Wasn’t a huge fan of camouflage or the chalice. Camouflage was billed as a collaboration album with Vordul Megallah (Cannibal Ox) even though he was only on about half the tracks with Bond an in house producer behind the boards. The Chalice was his first official solo from 2004, again with Bond behind the Boards, while neither is bad I didn’t feel like they had the character of other woods releases, it took him 8 years to drop another solo and in that time kinda found his sound IMO, so while you won’t be wasting your time listening to pre 2012 woods his work before history will absolve me wasn’t quite as interning as his work since, at least to me. I haven’t heard the Reavers album but I did check out the Super Chron Flight Brothers and Privilege is pretty meh to me so they’re not something I’d really go back to.

When she asks you straight up, say what you mean
It’s never as bad as it looks or as good as it seems
You definitely need to hear everything (not really his 2004 era s*** tho)

Where does Brass rank amongst Woods’ discography
For me it’s up there with Hiding Places for sure.

Thinking about copping this on vinyl tbh. From what I’ve heard it’s really great
Mach-Hommy, Elucid, and Navy Blue on the same album tho

That's a reasonable assessment. Both Camouflage and The Chalice definitely feel like remnants of that Def Jux sound. And yeah while woods' writing is still really sharp, he somewhat lacks the same presence on the mic that he brings now. Those Super Chron Flight Brothers albums are very solid though imo.
I'd still recommend a fan to check out that early work, especially to unravel his mystery a little more. Definitely plenty of gems scattered about, for instance:

Yeah it’s an incredible and really progressive record imo. Definitely worth supporting them in that way.
Have you heard Preservation’s Eastern Medicine, Western Illness? woods, Ka Mach, Navy, Roc all on the same album...

i watched the whole thing yesterday in bed at 5 am
love how in-depth he went with most of your questions

Yeah he’s a good guy. I didn’t even realize the interview was going so long until the end
Not a fan of Privilege at all, but that's the only negative I can say his earlier works. Love how cynical and dark billy was lol
Mans always had it
Any info on when the vinyl repress of Rome is dropping?
backwoodz just answered "it's coming" to some dude's twitting about it...
