Defiantly! So weird it downloaded from the official store missing 4 tracks! You were defiantly more helpful than customer service was
Lol yeah I like everything but Moor Mother
I think she’s dope on the project, didn’t even realise it was a female voice at first
Giving Shrines another chance and enjoying it a lot more than previous listens
Bitter Cassava, Solarium, Charms, King Tubby, Dead Cars, THe Eucharist
I think she’s dope on the project, didn’t even realise it was a female voice at first
Lmao what did you think she was talking about when she kept referring to her breast?
No more being a nigga
Who pulls the most triggers
Who d*** bigger
Newports in the winter
Seeing my breath on the porch steps
Plenty secrets been kept
Plenty folks lost their head
Aint protect their neck
No more regrets
Pour spliffs to make time stretch
Cause thats all you get
Woods always be dropping the most heavy hitting verses.
Castro Mugabe ain't no private property
The late Walter Rodney
Detonators wasn't firing properly
Sky opened like Lockerbie
Lmao what did you think she was talking about when she kept referring to her breast?
Lmao that was what made me realise
Ganja and hess, blood bless
Ancient tomb where centuries rest
Raiders of the lost ark, let me hide my text
Water clock, rolex, time for a hex
I'm vexed, let me read my sacred text
See who's next
what the f*** are these lyrics I dont understand s***, please someone explain atleast a single concept on the album maybe then I can start getting it.
This album needs to have a playthrough guide like video games

Google is your friend. You google Ganja and Hess and the blood bless part will make sense. Otherwise the rest of it is pretty self-explanatory no?
I would say the concepts are pretty much the same as they've ever been - black liberation, incendiary politics, historical allusions, post-colonialism. Lots of current affairs topics too like the riots and population displacement.
You can read up on what the cover is about and that should also help.
But yeah just google stuff when you get stuck I'd say. No shame in it. Already woods has had me reading about Jamaican maroons, Sinterklaas and Dian Fossey. The density of these works is, in part, what makes them so enjoyable right? Solving the puzzle. Its abundant replay value.

Yeah thanks for the response.
Its the type of homework that i like to do. billy woods, ELUCID and Moor Mother make Homework-core music and I'm saying this in a positive way.

I will admit I definitely don’t look up enough s*** woods says or his more obscure references, probably because I’m so content with his writing on its own, and the production he rhymes over tbh

the album cover seems to be from this collection

Yeah I get you. There's a balance to be struck and yeah I don't find myself really combing through a woods track line-by-line so much as just picking things up slowly over time. The music stands on its own without needing to instantly grasp everything.

Well put. It becomes a daunting task to really research all the s***, but I feel like BRASS especially is way more demanding of the listener than woods’ other work.
Just from a literary standpoint I get so much out of his work
