god's feet is becoming my fav song on the album, I didn't even like it at first. This song is surreal and I['m here for it. What do you think about the meaning of the song?

Ngl bad look for Armand Hammer they should at least responded then squashed it.

Didn't Elucid start this whole thing with his diss last year? Does anyone of a timeline for this beef.

I don't think it's a bad look for them tbh

Would be interested in seeing a timeline for all this tho

I mean they seem so above beefing. 99% of beefs are attention-driven, and that’s just so not who they are. Glad they didn’t feed the fire any more

Was listening to this podcast where they didn't understand the themes of Armand hammer, like they were saying these two seem to be talking about two different things and there is no central through line lyrically. How does them being different work together?

Though I didn't agree with most of this I found the perspective to be understandable foe anyone just getting into AH cause of alchemist. For me they always have the socio political thing on lock while also talking about life in general, their experience and melding them into stories that might feel impressionist. What is the overall theme of haram and how do these songs tie in together for you? What are your thoughts on these questions?

I'm not really sure.. woods has been around now for a while, has his own record label, and with HARAM he got the most exposure he has ever had. Maybe in these lines (I tried to help, now I need an island to myself) he is talking about some of his peers who used to be close with him, are now trying to reach out to him and get on the 'hype train' with him? Perhaps woods feels like he was trying to help them previously, and they should've stuck with him in the first place? Or people who woods did help out, and are now showing no love to woods for all that he did for them. I'm not sure who exactly these people are, but I'm sure there are a couple of old acquaintances who are now asking woods for 'help' with their music careers.

It could also just be gloomy, pessimistic dark humor in typical woods fashion. He likes to reference other hip hop artists (RZA) and poltics (Fidel) in a lot of his lyrics. And he likes to pepper his lyrics with certain words or phrases that hark back to previous songs, in this case "Lord help me I feel like the RZA, like this what I get for helping you **?"

I don't think this has been posted before, so for those interested, Backwoodz put out a mixtape for free back in 2011 titled 'The Cost of Living'. This was released before History Will Absolve Me. The original link from backwoodz is dead, but there's still a working link to download the whole project here (click on the MEDIAFIRE link):

    myemail.constantcontact.com/The-Cost-Of-Living.html?soid=1101526131859&aid=xv1uLAgzGMQ

billy woods has some great verses on here (check out 'Shilling')
Here is the original description of the album from 2011 (this must be written by woods himself) and the tracklist:

"The economy is in the tank. Unemployment is at an all-time high. Those with money are scared to spend it and those without, well...they do without. Two-and-a-half wars continue to drain the nation's coffers while the bloodshed increases. Summer is over. Winter is coming. Want to hear the good news? Backwoodz Studioz has a free record for you, aptly titled The Cost Of Living. With albums from billy woods, Elucid, Willie Green & Pastense on the horizon but still awaiting release dates, we figured our fans could use something to hold them over. Fifteen tracks featuring our artists; Willie Green, Vordul Mega, billy woods, A.M. Breakups, Elucid, Marmaduke, Bond, Pastense & HiCoup. They are joined by friends and family like Open Mike Eagle, Junclassic, Nasa, Man Mantis, Eleven, Teddy Faley, Cavalier, Megabusive and L'Wren."

01 - Loopholes (produced by Nasa)
02 - Demolition (produced by A.M. Breakups, featuring Elucid)
03 - Blue Dream (produced by Man Mantis, featuring billy woods & L'wren)
04 - The Knock (produced by Willie Green, featuring Megabusive, PremRock & Open Mike Eagle)
05 - Six Flags (produced by A.M. Breakups, featuring billy woods)

Seconded. Interesting to see how strongly people cling to the idea that rap needs a “theme.” In the underground rap climate rn there are so many different lyrical styles that defy the conventional format of “verse about something”

This is especially true for AH. You put it really well

Also, post itt more dawg. Happy to see discussions like these in here

Totally agree, it takes time though to get used to AH if you haven't heard much music in this lyrical style. Especially if you come from more traditional song structures and

Still in interviews woods puts a lot of emphasis on narrative cohesiveness and spends a lot of time talking about how things fall into place once the themes are discussed. Hence why I was trying to see if I can see any particular themes that thwy are trying to address in here.

In his solo work, consider hiding places which definitely has themes and a central idea that he is trying to get across. Same for ELUCID, consider save yourself which has religious undertones of turning 33 and finding yourself after a personal crisis.

That's why its a bit hard to believe that there may not be any Central idea here, considering they spend so much time on finding the right cover art and names for the project. In shrines it was the feeling of being trapped by human constructs, surveillance and the idea of building a heaven only to be intervened by and destroyed by humans.

For haram woods in his interviews has stated somethings like how religion can be a tool of mass control and such.

What are your ideas about these themes in Armand Hammer works in general?
