The graphics in that Jaylen Brown pic is crazy

This works for realism style games, but the issue is that DLSS 5 decides the lighting direction in a lot of these screen shots. The last of us 2 comparison has the most obvious example of this. The lighting and shadows look completely different from what the developers intended.

It's obviously very unstable for me, Witcher 3 has weird bugs, 2k26 flashes its lights on certain segments.

But potential is definitely there.

Now, in all seriousness, I understand the concern about preserving the artist’s intent.

Here’s the thing though, I started playing Witcher 3 on PS4 when it first released, and while it’s definitely a good looking game regardless, one issue I’ve always had with it is the plasticky, wax like look of some of the characters faces. It can really take me out of the experience.

The same goes for KCD2. I haven’t tried it yet with this, but from what I’ve seen, this seems to improve that issue quite a bit as well.

That said, I absolutely understand the argument that some games can lose part of their original look or “soul” with something like this. For example, I saw Horizon Forbidden West using it and actually thought it looked worse. I also wasn’t a huge fan of how it looked in AC Shadows. So it definitely depends on the game.

TLDR For games with more plasticky looking characters, like GTA V or Witcher 3, I think this is a useful tool. It’s honestly the kind of thing that could make me want to replay some of these games again.

I haven’t been very impressed by the few games I’ve tried.

Atomic Heart was probably the best looking. Said it in an earlier post, foliage heavy games really benefit. The lighting “improvements” genuinely look good

Stalker 2 looks alright but the face models are extra uncanny for some reason, even when messing with the sliders.

Couldn’t get path traced AW2 to run. I think it’s using too much vram

I think the real fun starts when the rendering gets put through a template. Not so much about enhancing, "beautify-ing" looks but using the tech to generate new appearance of models, props, and environment. A fantasy rpg can be turned into a scifi setting. Racing sims turned into mario kart. More chances of ppl trying old games to experiment w stuff. Even the enhancing visuals stuff doesn't have to be this default setting different people can come up w their own take on it. All these has been done by modders but lot of the work is by replacing in-game resources and that takes serious effort

Definitely looks better in games with more realistic artstyles. Aerith in that tweet on the previous page looks awful
