He refused to be LEGALLY forced to call trans people by their pronouns. He had an issue with compelled speech.
He’s stated that he would call trans people by their pronouns if asked.

it added trans people to the protected classes, not using preferred pronouns does not meet legal standards for hate speech and never did, which is why I said he lied about it

I haven’t looked at the bill, I was just providing his explanation.
You can either believe he was intentionally lying or he was misguided. I would think the latter myself. I think intentions matter when talking about these things especially if we’re looking to attack their character and wish death on them.
