Worldpremiere_i see i see, i think op is talking about the types of rappers who s*** on rap by saying theyre “bigger than that” or something. Or “ im not a rapper, im a rockstar” “im a creative” “ i make sonic paintings not songs” something along those lines.
Most ppl who claim “Artist” usually be on that insufferable s***. Its in other genres as well, including some of the goats saying that s***.
at the end of the day jus create beautiful work, theres no need to put it on a pedestal by putting other art down

Some of those artists, whoever they are, could really be making (or at least feel like they're making) s*** other than rap. other. not better. not transcending. if there have been any artists or rappers who have used those words regarding the genre they're in, I'd love to see it cause that's pretty whack.

Whites hate rap that's why they think calling you a rapper is a bad thing. You believing that being a rapper is bad just gives them power. Rap is one of the greatest forms of art and they know that so they want to destroy it. They're using reverse psychology to convey the thought that we shouldn't want to be a rapper so hip-hop loses its importance. When you disrespect and spit on the culture by abandoning it acting like it's not real art they get what they want. Don't let whites control your thoughts. Being a rapper is an incredible achievement.

Ok but didn't the rockstar s*** 100% have to do with aesthetics and the overall energy they brought to their persona and lifestyle? I don't think that fits in the conversation tbh let's stick to the "artist" thing
