1) Is the NFT the art or the way you pay and prove ownership of the art?

The NFT is the way you prove ownership over the art, ownership being defined differently depending on the terms

Some say you have the ability to profit off the art once you own it or even deserve profits from it but others just think of it more like a certificate of authenticity like you might get with a baseball card, vinyl etc

2) Are all NFTs art?

No, I have NFTs in my wallet that are just code for savings and liquidity positions in DeFi.. When I first heard about NFTs someone was telling me about how all home deeds could be moved to NFTs.. this whole art thing is a fad that's blown up over the last 20 months

You could use NFTs for anything with value, concert tickets I think would be super useful today for easier resale with less scams

A NFT is anything that could be tokenized and is a unique 1/1

3) Is the token a function of what is seen like a checksum or fingerprint, or is it randomly generated and just tied to the art? To me, anything that is intentionally created by a human is art.

Yeah it's generated inside of a smart contract with all the other tokens for that project and it's tied to the art via a link.. the bad ones are just backed by AWS server links, the better art NFTs are backed by decentralized storage but it's still just a web address of types

For a financial instrument based NFT though it's just code it doesn't need external storage cause it's already small
