    She’s not wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m sure when the George Floyd protests started Disney instantly came to her to make profit off of black suffering and this moment in time

Yeah that's the thing, most africans don't even care about this s***, so all these "pro black" "pro-africa" movies are consumed mainly by a western audience, which is very ironic.

There’s nothing wrong with black Americans trying to reconnect with a culture that was stolen from them

Do you really think Black Panther or Black is King are an honest and objective representation of modern Africa ? I don't think sensationalized movies like this made by Disney are the best way to reconnect Black americans with their origins.

obviously but it should be approached in a way that doesn’t generalize african culture as one big single entity and especially not through a billionaire capitalist making a film for one of the most immoral media conglomerates of all time

Of course It’s not the best way, but if black Americans wanna indulge in a fantastical version of Africa, who are we to stop them? Who is it hurting?

Saw other Africans saying this under her post and elsewhere on social media as well. What country are you from?

if you don’t have an understanding and respect of your own ancestry you can 100% appropriate your aesthetic for show or profit due to your own ignorance of your culture

there are afghans who never lived and never came to afghanistan who make culturally significant jewelry and clothing for the sake of profit without understanding the meaning and sentimentality behind it, and in doing so taint the multitude of subcultures of their home country

How is she gonna tell Beyoncé her repeat and understanding of Africa?
