He made a point on the rap radar interview and at that raptors game to say that the next album is more concise, 13-16 tracks

    That’s not a good sign....

To you, I haven’t waited this long for CLB to be 12 tracks. Give me all the slaps. No matter what the haters say , the length of Views, More Life & Scorpion do not hinder their listening experience at all to me.

Lol do you know how much Drake music we’ve gotten since Scorpion? A lot.

And it may not hinder the listening experience to you, hell it doesn’t hinder it to me. But for the vast majority it does, which is why those albums get panned and regarded as bad even if they aren’t as bad as people like to claim

So is it confirmed this is why he don’t produce as much?

Yeah, he said he now comes in and stands for the last 2 weeks, instead of the whole two years. He also said that he happily passed the baton on to Noel

Good, never understood why people want less music.

I’m with you 100 hundred percent, and while I understand Drake could drop a 12 song album, become “that classic” that takes every Grammy.. as a fan it would not be satisfying and like what is iterated in this podcast and what gets brought up in this section all the time, you will not be able to ever satisfy the wide fan base drake has. So I think ultimately for his major albums he should never do this.

There’s also this mentality too. I don’t think it’s steaming era, I can take a 10 track album from Kendrick and j Cole. That would be fire, but they don’t make the variety drake does so you can easily be satisfied with those “classic albums” they make

Simply appreciate that a shorter album from drake with less variety will end up more focused with higher quality tracks

Well if he isn't going to do it for his major albums or his "mixtapes" or his "playlists" or his "demo tapes" then what the f*** is going to do it for?

40: The discipline, the hardest part about it is really walking away from those moments. Not being in the studio 4 days straight with my brother. That’s tuff. I miss that. You know? That’s sort of a big sacrifice. I guess I sort of save up that energy til the end of the process. And you know what, whatever, I’ll stay up for the last 2 weeks. You know what I’m saying? Just not for the whole 2 years.

    KD: that’s smart

Eddie: is that where you guys are at right now?

    40: Hahaaaaaaaa

KD: yeah like we got 2 weeks left?

Eddie: is that what you saying?

    KD: til CLB drops.

40: Ah, s***. Idk idk idk.

KD. Nah, just a joke man. I know he can’t let that cat out the bag, man.

40: nah, Of course not, first of all of course not. you guys know I would never do that. But what I’ll tell you is this like: he’s always got it. He had it 8 months ago. He had it 6 months ago. 3 months ago. 10 months ago. He’s always got it. Now does that mean he’s done? Idk s***. He might make 10 songs next week. Idk. Right? But he’s got it. It’s just when he gon pull the trigger? Idk when he gon pull the trigger. He gon pull the trigger when he wants to pull it. But he’s GOT IT. He’s always GOT IT. Whether or not he thinks he’s ready or not, he’s always ready.

KD: I see how you framing this.

Eddie: you’re good at this. I see what happened just now.

40: I’m dead serious. I’m not even playing. I’m f***ing serious. He’s always ready. I’m serious. He’s got a lot of music. He’s good at making music. You guys know this. He’s there. He’s ready. If he has to drop the album tmrw he drops it tmrw. And you have to understand the other thing about Drake is Drake can make the industry move. If Drake says yo like I wanna drop my album on Friday. Yo industry’s gonna jump and it’s coming out Friday. He’s gonna make that call and it’s gonna happen. It doesn’t necessarily gonna have to be all like 3 months in advance and... he’s gonna make it move.

Would love for Drake to make a 10-13 song project then have over 70% of it not be rap just to prove a point. Lol. The problem is most ppl, not all, screaming for that want him to rappity rap all over it. They’d take a 20 song album of rap only any day. That’s not a Drake fan bc that man has never been that out the gate. The day he tries to cater to that crowd would be the day he plays himself tbh.

However, I do some head scratching on song selection when you see what he gives away and what leaks or becomes loosies versus what makes albums. But he should always do him, bc he never gonna please everybody no matter what he does. It’s a losing battle.
