I'm still only in the lv 20 areas (granted i'm lv 37) but its def been a lot easier so far despite me being rusty (just beat the lady with wings first try); enjoying the game regardless though

I think it might be because of the open world structure, I vaguely recall that Nioh 2 had some nasty enemy placements and the linear mission design forced you into some tricky situations. It's basically the same problem FromSoft had when it decided to go open world.

yeah this is why the fight sucks. The game gives you 100 abilities and spells but you get to use none of them in the big boss battles because all you have enough time to do is deflect and then punish in the 1 second you have before he does some combo again. Not even remotely fun.

not really, these are the same bosses that are in every soulslike. You keep dodging and parrying and then you punish quickly when you have a second.

If you try to use a skill or ability you just get hit because it takes too long, so the best strat is always deflect/block then punish

yeah this is a skill issue, I’ve not had that issue once

yeah because that fight is basically encouraging you to use that skill

different tools for different jobs

Stop acting like pressing l1 to parry/deflect is some unique tool for a unique boss, it’s the same basic mechanic all these games use over and over

I mean the next two main fights I didn’t deflect once, I made use of the ninjutsu abilities but okay

you’re just proving my point, I was just saying that fight sucked because I couldn’t use my abilities and had to focus on deflecting looking forward to what’s next though

I think there’s 3 time periods not including the edo period from the prologue

After 1572 you go way into the past and then far into the future

How far are you in the game right now? Would you say you faced any crazy difficulty spikes so far or been smooth sailing?

36 hours in (14 in demo and 22 since launch) and I just started the 2nd time period

No difficulty spikes yet, but it is getting gradually more challenging for sure

This is the most fun ive had since rise of ronin and ghost. Samurai game fans are eating. Multiplayer has been peak so far, making the grind so much better.

Just been going through the first map in level order finding everything, doing missions as they pop up, mastering all the crucible skills I got as drops in the demo

Good way to test out every weapon to make it easier to see which ones I fw the most. Last samurai weapon I have to try is the switchglaive and the last ninja weapons I have to try are split staff and kusarigama

Might have to go fists for samurai just straight galaxy knuckles on em
