it's almost guaranteed both games have been in development since their predecessors sold 10 million copies each - but they had a tech demo of Zelda ready for E32019 but didnt have one for Mario

well Nintendo hasn’t announced any first party games for q3 and Q42020 which obviously they will need something big to compete with new console releases and most likely it’s what they announced in June 2019, which is Zelda coming November or December 2020.

They almost always have a huge title like

smash bros (December 2018)
Pokémon (November 2019)
Mario odyssey (October 2017)

bayonetta could be likely for late 2020. in early 2019 they said development was moving along really well and I think recently they said they have big announcements soon,
