it has a hub world (in 199X idont remembr when it came out)
very cozy
also it has planes and boats so its basically mario kart 8

hot pancakesit’s more of an adventure then just a kart racer like mario kart (although it’s a typical shallow nintendo story lol). has a hub world to traverse
it has different vehicles - plane, kart, hover boat
has unique challenges in the story that arent just races where the goal is to come in first. for example, one “race” in the story isn’t really a race but you are in an arena style map and the goal is to collect and bring a certain amount of dinosaur eggs to your base before the other racers, but you can steal their eggs and they can steal yours. plenty of other unique types of matches throughout the game as well
has boss battles
racing is pretty smooth, wayyyyy less items to completely obliterate you if you are in first. there are only a few item types, but each item type has 3 upgrades
i mean a lot of it for me has to do with nostalgia i’m sure lol, but the game is soo good
yeah nintendo lucky they get away with releasing the same s*** for 32 tracks for mario kart because the game looks nice and s***
if they were orced to innovate they would have a cool campaign too by now

diddy kong racing was also in my top 5 on N64 as a kid, i never even got MarioKart because i didnt need it
me, my brother and my dad used to play the Versus parts like everyday for 2 years lmaoo i remember being undefeated in the FFA ice stage

it’s like the super Mario 64 of racing games because the hub world is huge, has secrets and makes progression/exploration more rewarding

This year is Donkey Kong’s 40th anniversary (on top of Zelda and Metroid 35, Pokémon 25). I wonder if they’ll give us any new DK content soon.

For sure. Man we got E3 coming up next month and we've got Switch Pro rumors and BotW 2 and probably several other heavy hitters coming up. If the thread title is still stuck at "NEW Direct!" then we gon lose all kinds of exposure in the video game section

Tbh thats on them not checking the "Nintendo thread" pinned in this sxn, an updated title wouldnt change that. We should put a list of games to play in OP tho so maybe people stop asking for recommendations (and also stop saying switch has no games
