I could see $350 but same price as PS5 digital not a good look imo
Nintendo is not competing against Sony/Microsoft. $400 price tag is ok if there is a substantial upgrade, however 400 should be the max though.

it doesnt matter brother half the people that own a switch dont play handheld at all so they are definitely going to compare price to a PS5/Xbox when looking to purchase another Switch
and new buyers will look at a new switch for $400 and a next gen xbox for $300 and some will for sure buy an xbox
it will still sell like hotcakes but they will definitely lose some people

Why? Im seeing this argument around and its funny to me cause you're paying 400$ at most for a hybrid console that can play games like witcher 3 at 720p on handheld and games that can upscale up to 4k when docked. Not only that, but the fact the switch is hybrid will make it more expensive than the usual console to produce considering the technology that's gonna be in there
Ps5 and switch pro are not the same at all and its stupid comparing their prices
playing a 6 year old game on 720p handheld should not be an accomplishment lol
anyway i just copped the animal crossing switch recently so i hope the pro dont come out til next year

Playing the witcher 3 at 720p on a handheld that goes for 400$ max is lmfao, find me a handheld that can do the same for that price and that can have at least 4.5/5 hours of battery

man you cant seriously ever say its stupid to compare their prices
at the end of the day they are both gaming hardware
and if its gonna be literally the same experience as the current switch handheld besides games actually hitting 720p then its even more fair to compare prices bc the real upgrade is docked like a console

Its stupid cause they offer massively different experiences, there's a reason nintendo is not competing with microsoft and sony right now, they are in different markets. The only thing a ps5 and a switch have in common is the fact they are gaming consoles.
And the experience gonna be better of course. To some switch pro "only" outputting at 720p when handheld is not a good upgrade but:
1) most games dont even reach 720p so having a 1080p screen would make them look even worse than how they do now
2) if screen was 1080p and games could reach that resolution the battery would die in like 1/2 hours and for a gaming console that's trying to sell itself as a portable too its a bad look
Docked performance would be much better cause not only a better hardware would make games like botw run at 900p @30fps without dips in resolution or fps, but dlss could upscale these games at higher resolutions and get games to run at a better framerate.
To me 400$ for what it seems its going to offer is a good price, but everyone values things differently so you're free to think whatever you want. I just find comparing two entirely different consoles dumb cause they got different architecture and offer different experiences, so costs are gonna inevitably be different

People who have a Switch typically already have a Sony/Microsoft product. It’s not a situation where people choose either or, like with PS5/XSX.
Also Sony/Microsoft have their own problems as well with a lack of games. If Nintendo comes out with BOTW2 alongside the new Switch I’m pretty sure that’s enough to sway folks to go with new Switch anyways.
we need Nintendo to future proof 5 years of gaming
out of 80 million Switch owners how many do u think played The Witcher 3 in handheld mode? lmaoooo
i almost dont even care about a new Switch because of how good the Series X and PS5 are at 4K60
if BOTW2 isnt a big enough sequel and if Pokemon Legends doesnt get filled in properly then i dont have a reason to even play anymore
Xbox has Halo Infinite and many other 2022 titles, PS5 has Ratchet, Returnal and more, and then there'a 2022 third parties like Hogwarts and Gotham Knights which will only make sense playing in 4K60 which the new Switch wont even handle lol

so then who is this new switch supposed to appeal to then
and by the time the new switch launches PS5 will have A LOT of games out
much better on PC or next gen consoles but you'll still enjoy it
Ah wish I knew that lol. Games def good on switch from what I've played so far but using the right stick so much on my switch lite is gonna shorten my sessions for sure

To people who want a switch that can run games better; this is a revision, not a replacement, so they dont need to get every switch or switch lite owner to buy the new switch pro. And it can bring over people who want to enter nintendo's ecosystem but couldnt or didnt want to cause its not powerful enough

The people who only play docked only are a minority while more than 70% play either handheld only or both

isnt that literally from 2017 when the switch dropped where people were still wowed by handheld??

thats literally outdated info
arstechnica.com/gaming/2018/06/nintendo-docked-and-undocked-play-time-for-switch-is-about-even
in 2018 it was 50/50
you gonna tell me with the pandemic and s*** people are playing more handheld now??? hell noo
its prob 65/35 docked

I think its actually more inclined towards handheld now cause of switch lite and the new version having better battery life so id say that it could very well still reflect that graph. Also, its one of the switch's main selling points, something no other console can give you so yeah id say even more people play handheld

So you proved yourself wrong? You said that most played docked so it isnt true, and that info is also outdated as it its before switch lite released

tf?? i said half the people play docked which is true based on the most up-to-date nintendo figures
you cant even count switch lite its literally portable only and $100 less
how is counting a switch lite that is portable ONLY fair when talking about how many people play the normal switch docked or not
it cant even dock wtf lol
if anything that means that LESS people play portable on normal switch bc many people bought a switch lite instead or a switch lite as their second on the go switch
Should I cop MH rise or Mario+bowsers fury
Want something to grind heavy so thinking Rise
Mario can easily net you 15+ hours and that’s not counting Bowsers Fury content.
Monster Hunter will be an addiction.
Been thinking about picking up Pokemon Sword. Haven't played one since the GBC lol
Do not cop
king is byke
