That new mysterious figure simply MUST have some tie to BotW2 otherwise I don't see any reason to introduce him in Age of Calamity just to abruptly end his role. If Master Kohga is alive and well in BotW then surely this new fella must've survived as well but remained hidden (perhaps below Hyrule Castle as shown in the BotW 2 teaser?) until he climbs out of the shadows to stir up trouble in BotW 2. Perhaps he is the one that has been trying to awaken Ganondorf's corpse under Hyrule Castle in BotW 2 during all these years, just as the Sheikah were trying to awaken Link after his 100 year slumber.
