Well a lot of times they can't be 100% direct or dont want to be direct to avoid legal trouble. Sabi got a cease and deist letter from Nintendo for leaking E3 2019 so she has to be extra careful.

As far as backtracking, I don't know. Some leakers do backtrack, some don't.

This ain't the same thing as what was originally stated (which was a COUPLE of games added to the service, in case you forgot) and you know it.

I played AC on GameCube and didn't like it for some reason so I sold it.
Then I tried again with Wild World on DS and fell in love.
So I HAD to cop City Folk on Wii.. but the thing is that game is literally a carbon copy of the DS version so that was a major bummer; not to mention there was an actual game-breaking mechanic...

Finally copped a 3DS in late 2017, but I skipped New Leaf for a potential Switch installment, so like you maxx, it's also gonna be 12 YEARS for me

Last time we had a Direct in the second half of the month was back in December 2013 (the 18th), so it seems unlikely for that to ever happen again. Of course I would love for Nintendo to prove me wrong.
