The stories can be pretty bleak and depressing but also inspiring
But you're right that a lot of it is just memeing and /r/im13andthisisdeep types
my friend also said "bleak" as a way to describe it and i 1000% agree with that.
Knowing at some point I'd have to start a whole brand new f\*\*\*ing save because I missed a few weapons in Part 1 is demoralizing as f\*\*\*
Giving me nasty flashbacks of getting 100% on Way of The Samurai 3

you can still get the part 1 weapons. no need to stress.

Thank god! So then the part 1 stuff only applies to the sidequests then?

i think so. not entirely too sure WHERE those weapons are, but from what i read, you can get them in part 2.
edit: guess you just buy em, apparently a little expensive too
How close am I to the first ending
Finished forest of myth and now Yonah want me to go to some boys house and help him with something

You’re almost half way
feel like people severely overexaggerate how depressing these games are. sure, these games are sad, but people act like these games are on another level of sadness or something
i'm sure a lot of it is just people memeing/the internet being the internet. maybe i just didn't connect with these characters as much as others (more so with replicant than automata, for me at least) or it might be because i knew the story before playing.
Lmao I did like 2 side quests back to back and my reaction was "Oh aint that some depressing s***"

the one that actually got me was the old man and his dog

the games do a really good job of creating and maintaining this overall very bleak atmosphere as you say. there's a pretty ever present sense of sadness and futility which is done very well. not to say the character stuff isn't good but i do kinda agree with you that people really overegg some parts of these games.
maybe controversial but i like a lot of the atmosphere and wider themes but imo some of the stories and how they're delivered is kinda trash. interesting and/or novel at times for sure but yeah, real r/im13andthisisdeep stuff as dude said at times. automata had some really cool ideas slightly obfuscated by this almost reliance on additional reading imo
never played nier and it always looked weird to me
But is automata worth it? Hearing good things about the story

One of the best stories to ever be put in a video game tbh
Yes it's worth it
Emil Was not expecting him to turn into whatever the hell he is now
Barren Temple trials might be one of the worst levels I've done in a video game like what is the point of this?

they could be better but it’s not even bad lol wym “what’s the point”? the point is obviously for it to be the biggest series of puzzles in the game

Still better than Forest of Myth
