You could def say Valhalla Rising was that, and visually there’s an argument to be made for that minus the neon influence but it was still missing some key components

To be fair, the first two episodes are. They're cowritten with a woman and stand on their own. Then the show turns into Refn greatest hits.

OGF one of the few movies I went from hating to becoming a personal favorite. I was 18 when I first watched it tho

He really pushed his style to the extreme with that one. Alienated most normal tv audiences, but the show is hypnotising and super original.

Also funny asf, it has NWRs best comedic scenes in between all that stylistic bleakness
