I think that you're downplaying history and western philosophy that laid the grounds for white supremacist imperialisme
One thing I found out is that it was never the idea of one person, there's a heritage there (German romanticism movement, enlightenment movement, pseudoscientific quests etc)
These movement didn't exist (to my knowledge) in Africa
The claim that any other culture would have done what the West has isn't really accurate and is downplaying history
"Tribes" (all over the world) partook in "tribal wars" and empires have been a thing since ancient times,
however the West rationalized ways to make that happen for them on a global scale) technology permitted them to sail across the Atlantic etc)
The west took innovation in fleets, harvesting, machinery, science to dominate the world (slavery, colonies, raging capitalisme, racial supremacy, mysogynie,...) forgoing a principle set by the enlightened thinkers - humanism.
