It's cool. I haven't gone back to it though.
I was listening to flower boy and Igor and call me a s*** ton.
Maybe this one didn't hit for me as much but I enjoyed it through two full listens.
Middle of the ocean is probably my favorite new drake rap song and it’s not just cause the rapping is hard it’s cause it’s got like a nonstop barrage of 2010 style quotables all back to back
Middle of the Ocean is fye i just dont think its one of the best on the album
I hate to say it but Kanye and Wayne raising a whole generation of rap listeners f***ed rap potentially beyond repair because that generation is pretty much 30 now so the dumb s*** has seeped into the generation and a half under it
Saying this as someone who was brought fully into rap in the Kanye and Wayne era
Remember Gen Z “Kanye” as in from Gen Z still hasn’t happened yet surprisingly

It’s understandable I get why

Facts
Wayne either IMO
People fell in love with the results and aesthetics of what they did but not the fundamental mastery of skill and identity and wanting to bring something new to the table
Have yours?

Based on every post from OP in this thread, I promise you Tyler did not want you liking his album
I’m curious
What exactly makes this album any worse than his last efforts? This just feels like a more mature version & accumulation of the last three albums but with some slight differences
Honestly think it’s his best
Mfs be so dumb. Allot of you are bad at listening to music.
cant levy bad listener at someone whilst liking tyler
It’s sad because I thought he had ye goat potential but he’s being way too prince niche with not enough good music to follow up
He never had ye goat potential stop this
I never liked Tyler and these forced ye comparisons are making me dislike him even more
I didn't return to it until today but it's actual heat if you're open to it. Vulnerable music
Prince was better but nobody really knows him now like how everyone knows MJ
He was too niche instead of making more accessible music instead of weirder stuff.
Kinda like how Drake is gonna be much more remembered than Kendrick in 40 years from now because his music is poppier, catchy and just gonna be around longer
theyre eating you alive for this but you are correct. 90s Prince was not his prime and im saying this as a massive Prince fan with a ton of his 90s music being my favorite. that part about people overwhelmingly knowing MJ over Prince is facts too if you're outside of the US. gotta disagree with that drake comparison a bit

Yea that comparison just shows how dry and unoriginal the majority of hip hop is.
Ye set a standard that’s hard to measure up to and Tyler is the one of the few major artist that’s attempting conceptual projects and performance.
But agree with you tho, that knee jerk comparison niggas be doing has me side eyeing Tyler’s projects and the s*** usually mid so it’s hard not to sound like a hater

This is pretty much the problem with all forms of entertainment and the ones who are now taking over. Bunch of washed, jaded millennials and Gen x’ers and the generations looking up to these groups have greatly suffered, as we see now, yet we get blamed, when they influenced us and instead of continuing to lead, leaned into the lowest grades of the newest idiocracy they influenced

We didn’t need two MJs or even Prince trying too hard to be on that same scale
I ironically was actually thinking about this while taking a s*** one of the past few days lmao bc of something unrelated + Kendrick/Drake
I came to the conclusion that while Thriller (album and video) was more successful, Purple Rain probably emotionally connects/connected with people more
Michael made songs that were more widely accessible but Prince made an entire universe and subgenre that people delved into more
I think a good modern equivalent is ironically Wayne and Kanye somewhat or moreso in their primes lol. Wayne could make any song about anything a relative hit/notable/memorable record while Kanye was big on lore, story and worldbuilding, pushing the sound forward above all else.

I’m a full blown hater now
Seen too many mfers trying to call this mid the new ye
Tyler doesn’t have a single project that touches anything from tcd to tlop
Tbh tyler’s fans are doing him a disservice by doing this but they’re too dumb to see it

They're different lanes. I know I prefer Ye (if I had to choose) but I won't be surprised that there are Tyler diehards who don't connect with Ye music like that.

Interesting post (while taking a s***)

Mmmm is that fair tho
