Electricity is energy. Where does the energy come from? Certainly not out of thin air. Usually fossil fuels or nuclear power is used to generate it. Not exactly environmentally friendly but not that bad either

The thread title, op post and article all say that the art "might" be destroyed at the discretion of the winner. That's entirely true. It's not certain, but still a possibility.

They say "might" because a recent physical work of art was destroyed to conserve its digital value as an NFT (which makes sense in the realm of this new ownership).

I'm not really seeing an outrage; it's just a lame and ironic process of destroying an original after copying it, then claiming you have the original.

The fact that it can happen, because it has happened before, is what people are reacting to. I don't see an issue at all.
