Ratings aren’t that indicative of the level of engagement people are actually having with the sport anymore though. Ratings may be down across the board for a number of networks for many different reasons but when it comes to the NBA, lack of interest isn’t one of them. It’s the fastest growing sport in the world and Next to soccer, it’s probably the most accessible as well. They have a younger and more diverse demographic and unlike Football, they don’t have any looming issues, such as CTE, threatening the very foundation of their sport, which is youth and rec leagues. It’s entirely plausible that within the next 10 years, youth football will no longer exist. In fact, I’m 100% sure it won’t barring some drastic development in the prevention of concussions. The outdated format is really one of the only things probably holding it back at this point.

CTE isn't going to change anything for a 9 billion dollar sports league. NFL has more than enough money to take care of their health concerns. even if youth football dies down it will just become pay to play college football isn't going anywhere.
